Catriona’s photography focuses on the details and patterns of the outside world; islands and shorelines, birds and feathers, pine cones and lichen, mountains and bogs, festivals, boats and buildings.

She uses a Nikon DSLR and a scanner to capture the textures, patterns and light in the world around her.

In 2016 she won the Historic Environment Scotland Climate Change photography competition. In 2019 a collection of her photography was included in the Art in Granton exhibition and in 2020 she was awarded first prize at the Marine Conservation Society’s ‘Wildlife and Countryside Link Ocean Dreaming’ photo competition.

Catriona was delighted to take part in the ‘Imagining an Island’ exhibition in 2020, in a collaboration between Taigh Chearsabhaigh in Uist and UHI. Her photographic work has been published alongside her writing in The Island Review and Northwords Now.
