Catriona is drawn to paint the natural world, and focuses primarily on birds, attempting to capture their character and movement; she celebrates the beauty of overlooked city birds such as crows, pigeons and magpies. She enjoys the challenges of watercolour, with its immediacy and fluidity, and how it reacts and interacts with different substances to create texture and variation. She also creates mixed media pieces, combining watercolour with ink, natural materials or light projections. You can read more about this in the Gaelic section.

Passionate about sustainability Catriona tries to source papers and paints with a low environmental impact, upcycling and recycling packaging materials and frames. In 2021, as part of a project to map carbon use in the creative sector Catriona made her own paints and paper to create five artworks, you can read more about the project on the Climate Friendly Culture website.

You can see a selection of her work in the slideshow below, and purchase current original artworks and prints through her online shop. Commissions are currently open, please use the contact form to discuss.
